Raise the Titanic Book Review

Published in 1976, Raise the Titanic is the classic third novel in Clive Cussler's best-selling series about oceanographic action hero Dirk Pitt.

Written and published during the cold war era, the central theme of Raise the Titanic is something akin to Ronald Reagan's Star Wars Program, seven years before said program was proposed by President Reagan. The key to the program (in the book) is the exceedingly rare element byzanium. (Don't bother looking it up in your chemistry book. It does not exist.) And the only known source of byzanium of sufficient quantity is believed to lie buried in the holds of the Titanic. Dirk Pitt and his team are assigned the unenviable task of raising the old derelict.
