Ships carrying passengers from other socialists countries, European tour groups and soviet workers on vacation frequently see these waters. Continue reading

A group of people from a college and university was selected for the one month expedition in Antarctica that was funded by the National Science Foundation and this college senior was able to participate in it. What these schools normally engage in are research trips of all kinds. Continue reading

Despite Antarctica’s ice, snow, isolation, high winds and raging seas and for hardy types, precisely for these reasons, the continent will be visited by an estimated 11,200 people this tourist season, all but about 130 of them on cruise ships. A valiant man who had toiled at Atigun Pass, Trans Alaska pipeline’s highest point is very much into the snow and cold. Hence, the retired civil engineer could not help but, well, shiver with excitement as he learned about the local university’s alumni association’s intention of embarking on an expedition to the White Continent, Antarctica. This made me think of it as a marvelous idea. Antarctica has been mesmerizing real explorers even armchair ones in spite of its reputation of being the coldest and least hospitable place on Earth.
