Travel to the Icy Dominion
If you have found yourself bored with all the usual vacation choices such as Rome, the Bahamas, Paris, Canada, Mexico, Maldives, or wherever, consider the perfect vacation for new sights and excitement: Antarctica! Recently more and more individuals have discovered the frozen, windy southern continent. School children may read about Antarctica in their books, but the rest of us seem to have forgotten this continent. Continue reading
Antarctica Has Captured Imagination of Both Real and Armchair Explorers
This man yearns for cold climates after working for the Atigun pass found at the highest area of the Pipeline of Trans Alaska. So this gentleman, a retired civil engineer, shivered with delight upon hearing about the plan that the local university’s alumni association was brewing up, specifically about an Antarctic expedition. I thought that it was such a spectacular thought. Both real and armchair explorers aim to go to mesmerizing Antarctica despite being the coldest and least hospitable frontier in the world. Continue reading

Survival In Antarctica: What Makes It In The Wild?
The tiny pink mite, measuring 1/100th of an inch in length, is the farthest southern living animal recorded. It eats algae and fungi and resembles a spider. A scientist from Hawaii just found the pink mite very close to the South Pole. It was only 309 miles away. There were lichens within 266 miles of the Pole, which is closer than any living organism has been found. Continue reading

The Many Wonders In The Frozen Continent
Before making my move, I walked down the gangway of the cruise ship with caution and waited for a break in the swelling waves. I sat into a small rubber boat after just one stride. In a matter of a few short minutes, our small team of travelers got to bounce through blue shimmering ice chunks and even a seal taking its nap. I head to the northern part of the Antarctic Peninsula after putting my legs over the zodiac once my boat stopped along a rocky beach. Continue reading

Journey To The Last Place On Earth
Years of working in the Trans Alaska Pipeline, the Atigun Pass to be specific, has made this gentleman like the snow and cold very much. So this gentleman, a retired civil engineer, shivered with delight upon hearing about the plan that the local university’s alumni association was brewing up, specifically about an Antarctic expedition. I thought that it was such a spectacular thought. Even as Antarctica holds the title of being the coldest and least hospitable place on Earth, more and more voyagers aim to venture it, even the armchair kind of travelers. Continue reading
Plane Rides To Antarctica
People are not as picky and will travel anywhere. Taking this into consideration, there was a businessman and brainstormer from Australia who decided to arrange a charter flight headed for the Antarctic and this happened on February 13, 1877 which was the first one of its kind. As he was looking at a map one morning, this active 33 year old electronic executive thought to himself why a regular plane cannot accomplish a trip to Antarctica that returns to Sydney on the same day. Continue reading
Headed Off To Antarctica
Eighteen days had passed in the icy land of Antarctica, arriving at the airport according to the schedule have seemed to be the finest warm homecoming. The Antarctic Cruise
Two maritime charts draped across the navigation table. These waters haven’t been surveyed, according to the charts. Using depth soundings, our captain charts a safe and steady course. Though he travels the Antarctic frequently, the captain hasn’t ever sailed this channel. Continue reading

Adventure To The Antarctic
You cannot help but be stunned by the sheer volume as these three feet high, tuxedo wearing birds slip and slide their way around their mud caked rookery, with well over 100 thousand of them it’s not the sort of thing you tend to forget. Continue reading
Oil Spill Hazardous To Antarctic Marine Life
Extremely reminiscent to Antarctica’s age of innocence going on its death and being erected into a monument was the presence of a badly gashed orange hull of a cruise liner coming out from the forlorn icy waves of blue. While perching calmly upon the sunken ship, penguins look at the oil glistening on the surface of the water oblivious to the danger that lurks. Much more of the diesel fuel in gallons unbound in the shipwreck emit the substance gradually after tens of thousands of these have already been cleaned up by the natural process of evaporation. Continue reading
